#SHOTBYADAMS | Bryan Adams at Me Hotel
EXHIBITION AT: ME HOTEL, GROUND FLOOR, THE STRAND, LONDON WC2R 1HA
ATLAS GALLERY is excited to announce an exhibition of black and white and colour photographs by photographer, musician and singer Bryan Adams. This exhibition marks the publication of Adams’ latest book “#SHOTBYADAMS”, which contains never-before-seen portraits from his archive and represents a substantial follow-up and second volume to his celebrated 2012 book “Exposed”. In addition to a selection of both Adams’ well known and newest, unseen black and white celebrity shots, the exhibition also includes recent works from his series “In Colour”.
IN 2023, Inspired by the expression “seeing things through rose-tinted glasses”, Adams decided to experiment with multi-coloured plexiglass on some of his photographs, to give them a different dimension. The result is a fresh approach to and interpretation of Adams’ already well-known catalogue of portraits, including Kate Moss, Amy Winehouse and Mick Jagger, which are presented in dreamlike suspension behind coloured lenses. This adds even more to the sense of the celebrity appearing to be viewed as if behind a screen, at a distance from the viewer, but somehow also trapped. This exhibition presents for the very first time a selection of brand new works.
BRYAN ADAMS was inducted into the Royal Photographic Society in 2015 and in the same year he was approached to photograph the Big Issue vendors for a book. “Homeless” was published in 2019 and the works were exhibited at the Atlas Gallery in 2021 in the wake of the World Covid Pandemic and lock down. In 2017 the Royal Ontario Museum presented ‘Canadians’ by Bryan Adams to mark Canada’s 150th Anniversary. This featured 28 portraits of well-known Canadians, including Michael Bublé, Linda Evangelista and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. His work has been exhibited in many other museums all over the world including the Moscow House of Photography and the NRW – Forum, Düsseldorf. Bryan Adams’ photography is held in European and international private and public collections.
Presented in association with Anke Degenhard, Crossover.
