HURLEY: PLATINUM SERIES
We are proud to bring you a new series of some of the most inspiring images in the history of photography. Back in 1994, when I first opened the doors to the Atlas Gallery, our first photographic project was entitled The Hurley Collection, a set of 25 Gelatin Silver prints by Frank Hurley from Ernest Shackleton’s “Endurance” Expedition to the Antarctic in 1914-17, produced in partnership with The Royal Geographical Society.
We are now incredibly excited to release a brand new series of prints of these historic images, as incredibly high quality platinum palladium prints, produced by our friends and world leading platinum printers Salto Ulbeek, with whom we have worked for many years both on the platinum prints of Nick Brandt and also on the famous Herbert Ponting prints of Scott’s Terra Expedition. Included here you will find a stunning selection of Frank Hurley’s breathtaking works.
I have always found the story of the Endurance Expedition, led by Sir Ernest Shackleton, an enormous inspiration in my life and I can think of no better example of determination, strength in adversity, leadership and courage to inspire us today in the challenging times we are living through.
