True Colours
True Colours, a trans-historical celebration of extraordinary colour photography, will open at ATLAS Gallery, London, in autumn. The exhibition, running from September 5th – October 5th 2013, will feature colour works by photographers represented by the gallery who have pushed the boundaries of the medium, from early colour work by the likes of René Burri and Ernst Hass, to more contemporary applications by Adam Jeppesen and Paolo Ventura. Other photographers in the exhibition include Jonas Bendiksen, Martin Parr, Norman Parkinson, Steve Macleod and Steve McCurry.
An exclusive work by René Burri will form a key focus of the exhibition; the large limited edition piece Horse Pool and House by Luis Barragan, San Cristobal, Mexico (1976) is a unique example of Burri’s colour work within a largely black and white oeuvre. The re-discovery of Burri’s colour photographs has been highlighted in his recently published book Impossible Reminiscences.
