FOUR NEVER PRINTED SAM HASKINS IMAGES
ANNOUNCING THE RELEASE OF 4 PREVIOUSLY UNPRINTED WORKS BY SAM HASKINS NEVER OFFERED BEFORE
Sam Haskins place in photographic history is to a large extent defined by the four seminal book titles he produced in the sixties; Five Girls 1962, Cowboy Kate 1964, November Girl 1967, African Image 1967 and the enormous influence they continue to provide to a wide range of image makers and designers. The Sam Haskins archive of silver gelatin prints is characterised by only a handful of prints left over after the production of the four full scale maquettes produced to present to publishers when each book was produced.
The combination of tremendous rarity and a wide range of decade defining and historically iconic creative imagery is wonderful for collectors. The Sam Haskins Estate have committed to not diluting the rarity of silver prints with limited editions of existing images from the books although open edition inkjet prints are available for the pure joy of hanging the work.
Sam Haskins’s prolific output and relentless creativity produced more images than were published in his books and his son Ludwig, who now manages his father’s estate, is launching a new series of limited edition works from creative gems of the sixties that (to the best of his knowledge) have never been printed before.
The first series of four images is being produced in a run of 7 prints with no artists proofs. Two prints from each set are being retained by the estate so only five prints from each of the four images are available on the market. The Sam Haskins Estate has also pledged not to ever produce these images in any other editions.
Four more images will be released every three months, culminating in an exhibition comprising circa 40 works.
The works are digital prints produced on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag and are meticulously certified with PIN (Print Identification Number) certificates, the definitive authenticity system created by the Sam Haskins Estate. Each print comes with a solid Ash frame that has been handmade in-house by the estate with anti UV acrylic and 8 ply Rising 100% cotton fibre boards for the mats. These are museum quality frames made to Sam’s specifications, stained and waxed.
The price for the framed works is £ 3,385 + VAT if applicable.
